A recruitment consultancy celebrating its first anniversary in business is set to expand into Huddersfield in the New Year.
For James Macbeth, founder and managing director at 10 Recruitment, it’s a return to Huddersfield where he hopes to build a long-term future.
James, 43, has had a 20-year career in the recruitment industry and managed agencies in Huddersfield between 2004 and 2014 before working from Leeds for a large corporate recruitment company.
James, who specialises in working with engineering and manufacturing businesses, always had ambitions to strike out on his own.
He founded 10 Recruitment in Wakefield in November 2024 and is celebrating a milestone first year by taking on a new employee, Gemima Forsey, to join Honza Reed in their team.
Gemima’s appointment as senior recruitment consultant with experience in the engineering sector means the company is ready to expand and grow further.
In January 2026, 10 Recruitment will move to new offices at The Glass Box in Huddersfield town centre.
James said: “It’s a proud moment to celebrate our first anniversary and share our success in what has been a challenging market for recruitment.
“We’ve brought a fresh approach and a new perspective and I’m really grateful to our clients for putting their trust in what we do.”
James said he was delighted to welcome Gemima into the business ahead of the move to new offices.
“This expansion is a pivotal moment for the business and a significant step, both for the company and for me personally.
“Having previously set up and run a branch in Huddersfield town centre, it feels incredibly rewarding to be returning, particularly as we see renewed investment and energy flowing into the area.
“The recruitment sector has changed a great deal in the past few years but Huddersfield as a town is going places with outside investment and new businesses coming in.
“It seemed logical when looking for larger offices to relocate to my hometown and base our company here for the next phase of our journey.”
James added: “I’m really looking forward to coming back to Huddersfield and we’re excited to contribute in a small but meaningful way to the development of the town.
“We want to deepen our ties within the local community, whilst still looking after clients who are further afield. It’s an exciting time.”
10 Recruitment have joined the Kirkwood Business Movement as well as the Forget Me Not 99er club to support both local hospices.
Meanwhile, 10 Recruitment has also just been approved to become an Associate Member of the Huddersfield-based Textile Centre of Excellence where James’ dad Bill Macbeth was managing director for 25 years until his retirement in early 2025.
10 Recruitment is the only recruitment agency to receive this recognition following its support for several member companies.
“It was an honour to be asked and a privilege to help support an industry that has been so important to my family,” said James.
