The Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee all maintenance activities across a busy manufacturing facility in Leeds.
This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for managing the maintenance function, coordinating contractors, and ensuring all machinery, plant equipment, and factory installations operate safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will implement and manage a preventative maintenance programme, minimise downtime, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
The Maintenance Manager will work closely with operations, health & safety, and production teams to support continuous improvement and maintain high operational standards across the factory.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day running of the maintenance function across the manufacturing site.
Develop, implement, and manage a Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme for all machinery and factory installations.
Carry out hands-on maintenance support when required across plant equipment and machinery.
Manage and coordinate subcontracted maintenance providers, ensuring correct documentation such as RAMS and Permit to Work systems are followed.
Maintain and repair manufacturing machinery, factory equipment, cranes, and batching plant.
Ensure LOLER certifications for lifting equipment remain valid and compliant.
Ensure the electrical installation remains compliant with industrial regulations.
Plan and coordinate repair activities, including scheduling and cost estimation.
Monitor maintenance expenditure and ensure budgets are controlled effectively.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and logs.
Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with purchasing to maintain adequate stock levels.
Identify recurring machinery issues and implement long-term solutions.
Enforce health & safety procedures across all maintenance operations.
Conduct regular workplace inspections and maintain high housekeeping standards.
Manage communication between the maintenance team, contractors, and production teams.
Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance workforce, identifying training and development needs.
Attend and contribute to weekly maintenance planning meetings with the Operations Director.
Minimum Requirements
Proven experience working in a Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Supervisor role within manufacturing.
Electrical qualification required (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering).
Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and plant maintenance.
Experience managing contractors and maintenance teams.
Understanding of LOLER regulations, RAMS, and Permit to Work systems.
Experience managing maintenance budgets and spare parts inventory.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to work both strategically and hands-on when required.
Good understanding of Health & Safety and industrial compliance standards.
